Portrait of Iselin Magnussen

Hi, I'm Iselin!

Information Systems student · Final year

I'm in my final year of a bachelor in Information Systems at Østfold University College, specialising in software engineering. Before tech I worked several years as a dental health secretary and in retail, so I'm used to working carefully under time pressure and with people.

Featured projects

Three projects that show how I work as a developer.

SQL query for grip wax for new snow below freezing, with four of the nine result rows

Database · Team of 2

Ski Wax Database

MySQL database that suggests an alternative ski wax based on temperature, snow type, track and skill level.

Normalised to BCNF · real data from Swix · role-based access

MySQL · ER modelling · SQL views

Case study Challenges & what I learned

Wireframe of TourPlanner with tour list, map and image gallery

Bachelor thesis with Omda

AI speech-to-text and real-time documentation for out-of-hours emergency call centres.

Operators at emergency call centres have to listen, assess and write notes at the same time, often under heavy pressure. Our team of four will test Norwegian speech-to-text models that can run locally, since patient calls cannot be processed in the cloud. The goal is a prototype that fills in the fields of the operator's checklist as the call goes on, so the operator only confirms or corrects.

  • Evaluate local speech-to-text models on simulated calls with dialects and medical terms
  • Structure the text in real time instead of writing a summary afterwards
  • Design how the operator works with AI-generated text during the call
  • My background as a dental health secretary helps with medical terms and documentation under time pressure

About this site

I built this site by hand in HTML and CSS, mobile first and without frameworks, so it is a small project of its own.

Every change goes through a pull request and a GitHub Actions pipeline that validates the HTML, checks every link and tests each page against WCAG 2 level AA. Nothing is published until all checks pass.

The first accessibility run found 74 errors, mostly orange text with too little contrast. That is why the links here use a darker orange.
